When we hear about Superheros, the first thing which may come to the mind of many will be those action scenes and how the superhero tries their best to save the world. But interestingly, if you have noticed, many superhero movies do have elements of Romance. Sometimes, even the movie’s plot is based upon the Romantic relationship between the protagonist and their lover. But it’s also a hard job not to make it a fully romantic movie and disappoint the fans who came for an action-packed movie. Well, they aren’t wrong, after all, Superhero movies do have action as their key element, and that’s the key attraction of these superhero movies. We will include movies from different years, as we are looking at some of the top pics. Now it’s time for us to get into Romantic Superhero Movies.
In the movie Incredibles, which was released back in 2004, we could see the love life of Mr. Incredible and Elasticgirl. Unlike remaining only in an affair, this relationship is one of the rare superhero couples who become married. And this what makes them unique from others. If you haven’t watched the movie, we can give you an idea about the love life of Mr. and Mrs. Incredible.
In this movie, you won’t be seeing any sizzling moments of their superheroes. This again keeps this love story apart from some of the other superhero romances. Between Mr. Incredible and Elastic girl, we could only see the endearing, startlingly genuine depiction of the comforts of true love and their happy married life. Since this movie is a bit different from the likes of introducing a married superhero couple.
Also, this is not only about the happy parts of a marriage. This movie also gives us the drudgeries in marriage life’s which do happen naturally. At one point, we could see Helen suspecting Bob of cheating, and all the after-effects due to this skepticism of Helen towards her husband. And if you do like the Incredible’s you should also be watching Incredibles 2, where we could even see Bob the staying-at-home while looking after the children and home.
Now let’s move to some time back. Like to the classics time. We are talking about the “Superman” movie. Released in 1978, this movie the first installment of the Superman film series, which was released after the massive success of this movie. We all know the love life and the story of them. It will be an injustice not to include a Superman movie when we talk about romantic superhero movies.
This classic movie directed by Richard Donner proved superhero movies does can perform amazingly well at the box office. This movie was sort of responsible for every superhero movie we see now as this is the one which makes people want to see more of their comic book hero’s on big screens.
Another great thing about this movie is how this movie was successful in representing the romance between Lois Lane and Superman. Lois’s affection for Superman, yet their general indifference to Clark Kent, leads an interesting dynamic. A classic love triangle, a formula that is even tried and being successful, and we don’t see this formula won’t be fading away anytime soon.
If we have talked about Superman, we should talk about Batman also. After all, not including these iconic superheroes would never complete this list. On the Batman side, we have the 1992 Batman Returns. We don’t want our readers confused between the Dark Knight Returns and Batman Returns. Directed by Tim Burton, this movie in the Batman series, all done by Tim Burton, is still having many fans and is also considered as one of the classic superhero movies.
In this Batman movie, we could see the relationship between Batman and Catwoman. Both of these guys had a very complicated relationship in the comics. Tim Burton’s Batman Returns was successful to capture their dynamic perfectly.
In this movie, neither one was aware of the other’s secret identity, Bruce Wayne, played by Michael Keaton, and Selina Kyle, played by Michelle Pfeiffer, can be seen embark on a heated, and a little strange relationship. The actors were also great in bringing chemistry. They were amazing in their characters, and sparks fly whenever they’re on screen together.
4. Spider-Man 2
Next up on the list, let’s look at Someone from the Marvel camp. We are talking about Spiderman. Even though this movie was from Sony’s side, we all know the story. The Spiderman Trilogy is also one of the all-time hits, and fans are still there who want to see their first Spider-man back.
You may wonder why we don’t talk about the first Spider-Man. Yes, the first Spider-Man movie had that upside-down kiss in the rain, very iconic and romantic, but it was in the second installment of Spider-Man we could see more of Mary Jane and Peter Parker. Sam Raimi has written a far more passionate affair in this sequel.
In Spider-Man 2, we could see Peter Parker, played by Tobey Maguire, was struggling to help with the life of the civilian. This was very hard on him, as he wasn’t able to be city saving superhero and MJ’s lover, both at the same time. Ultimately, he decides to step back and let MJ marry John Jameson. His was not because he didn’t love her, but it was actually because he loved her and wanted to keep her safe. But in the end, the girl of his dreams was standing in his doorway in her wedding dress. All of them were very romantic too!
There is no doubt that Deadpool is a killer movie! Killer beIng in the box office as well as his in his job! With all those good comedies and action scenes, this R-rated movie was an all-rounder amazing! But in the Deadpool movie, we can’t unsee Deadpool’s love story. The sweet relationship between Deadpool and Vanessa.
The movie was released by the time of Valentine’s day. The movie was even cleverly marketed as a “chick-flick” during its release. Most people assumed this was a gag, But as we all know, it wasn’t. The movie was very romantic, yet it didn’t miss out on any action scenes as well as Deadpool’s fourth-wall-breaking wisecracks. We all loved the tender love story about a mutated contract killer and a former call girl. If you haven’t watched this movie, we suggest you watch this great movie.
6. Wonder Woman
How can we not ignore the Lady Superhero Wonder Woman? Wonder Woman was a massive hit and was one of the very few movies with a woman as a protagonist, which was this successful in the box office. This is the reason why I welcomed the sequel to this film also.

The entire movie’s storyline revolves around the relationship between Diana and Steve Trevor. And it was this story that made the movie work this much. Steve’s war-weary Philosophy is matched with Diana’s idealism. In this movie, Diana wasn’t much aware of humans. And Steve was always there for her, helping her to get to know more about the humans.
Once they enter the war, these two were the perfect team. It was very heartbreaking to go through the climax of the movie. Even though we all knew that it was the only way out, we still wished that it didn’t happen. Both the Wonder Woman movies are worth watching as a Romantic Superhero movie.
7. Spider-Man: Far From Home
The movie Spider-Man: Homecoming was a totally different and a totally new Spidey movie. In this Spiderman, we could the love story of Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, and Michelle Jones, also known as MJ, played by Zendaya. Its romance is totally different from the one we have seen in the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man.
As we have said before, it is hard to get together themes like Romance, Action, and Drama without crossing the line. And this film was successful in that. Before the release of this movie, we all thought that Liz, played by Laura Harrier, will replace MJ to be Peter’s lover. Throughout the entire movie, we all believed it.
Michelle got her appearance only by the end of the movie. Before all that time, she spends her time as a background character. When she reveals her nickname to Peter by the end of the movie, we could see cute chemistry building up between them. Homecoming sets the beginning of the iconic comic-book romance. And In Spider-Man: Far From Home, we could see this relationship growing much stronger.
In this second installment in this new Spider-Man movie, If we keep aside the action scenes, this movie will be just a cute dramatic teenage love story. This adorable chemistry becomes a cute love story by the end of this movie. We will clearly love these two cutie-pies and will wait to see more of MJ and Peter in the next Spider-Man installment.
8. Captain America: The First Avenger
Captain America: The First Avenger is considered as one of those movies which fully engage viewers in Romantic Superhero Movies. The movie takes us through an old-school adventure, a good one indeed. The biggest thing that makes it special is its elements of romance. The relationship between Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, and Peggy Carter, played by Hayley Atwell.
Their love story and chemistry become the backbone of the story. While watching the movie, viewers could see Steve and Peggy sharing several deep scenes together. All these scenes establish how deeply these characters care for one another, and by the movie finale, we could see our Captain flying towards the ice. Before going out, he promised Peggy that the dance would go down. This scene can be considered as one of the most ardent moments in The MCU’s history.
9. The Amazing Spider-Man
Well. since we have mentioned Tobey Maguire Spider-Man and about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, You should have already expected Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man. Yes, many may not like this Spider-Man where Spiderman gets dark. Since it’s a topic to be discussed another day, we here will be looking at the romance between Peter Parker, played by Andrew Garfield, and Gwen Stacy, played by Emma Stone.
While Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy showed the love story of Peter Parker and MJ, it was still in the good remarks only. But when it comes to Garfield’s Peter and Emma Stone’s Gwen, the relationship feels more real. Every second they share together the screen, we could see how adorable it was. It’s a bit sad to see this trilogy lost Gwen by the end of the second movie in this series.
We didn’t also get the chance to see this franchise making it into a trilogy. We are also not talking about the tragedy of losing Gwen. It was a lot for every fan, who enjoyed their chemistry. It’s likely that the MCU’s Peter-MJ romance will supersede this in due course, but it will nevertheless remain the single purely successful element of two totally mediocre movies.
10. The New Mutants
The New Mutants, directed by Josh Boone, was an attempt to bring the popular junior X-Men team to the big screen. But this came in vain. Even though this movie made to our list because of how romantic it is when the screen is shared between Dani Moonstar, played by Blu Hunt, and Rahne Sinclair, played by Maisie Williams.
The central relationship between them is so believable, engaging, and ultimately becomes the highlight of the movie. This is also one of the few movies where we could some pretty important LGBTQ representation in this movie. Since this movie was a failure, it didn’t make it into the MCU, and I guess, we won’t see more stories of these characters.
